Right of way signs

Right of way signs indicate that the driver must give priority to other vehicles or that he is entitled to take priority over other vehicles. Experience has shown that changes in the right of way are often overlooked, especially by local drivers.

301 Stop. Obliges the driver to stop and give priority to the vehicles on the road to which he is approaching. The foremost part of the vehicle must not cross the stop line.

The accompanying sign "Direction of the main road" (509) shows the route of a main road which changes direction. Vehicles that remain on the main road, or leave it, must be granted priority.

The "Stop" sign is only to be observed at junctions with traffic lights, if the traffic is not being regulated by the traffic lights.
